Thank you, Verizon HopeLine! Next Door Solutions is proud to, again, be selected by Verizon as a HopeLine grant recipient. Funding of $25,000 supports NDS’ Self-Sufficiency services where, annually, nearly 350 survivors have access to and receive services of Intensive Case Management, workshops, and support groups that help them make incremental gains in self-sufficiency.
Economic abuse is a form of domestic violence and includes a range of tactics used by an abuser to undermine the economic independence of a current or former intimate partner. Self-Sufficiency services help survivors gain and regain self-reliance during and after abuse, creating greater stability in their lives, and those of their children. Working with the survivors, NDS Advocates help them define short and long-term goals (12-24 months) in eight life domains of Income, Housing, Food, Employment, Education, Healthcare, Wellness, and Domestic Violence (safety).
Dealing with the consequences of domestic violence in our society is an enormous challenge and it takes strong partnerships to effect real change. That is why Next Door Solutions applauds Verizon for its vision and dedication. At Verizon, they are working to make their network, technology and people part of the solution – and are committed to helping the nearly one in four women, one in seven men, and more than 3 million children in the United States affected by domestic violence.
HopeLine is a phone recycling program exclusive to Verizon that uses refurbished and recycled wireless equipment and Verizon Wireless services and equipment to help victims of domestic violence. Through HopeLine, Verizon has donated hundreds of thousands of phones and awarded millions of dollars in cash grants to partner agencies.
Wireless phones and technology serve as a vital link for all of us. They’re also an especially safe and reliable way for domestic violence victims and survivors to reach emergency or support services in times of crisis and stay connected with employers, family and friends.
