Advocacy Training
California state law requires that everyone at a domestic violence agency who is working with adult domestic violence victims must complete the California State certified 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocacy Training.
Next Door presents the training series several times a year, with the program schedule designed to meet the needs of potential volunteers who work professionally in other fields. The training covers a wide range of domestic violence related topics, resources for victims, and interaction techniques for working with domestic violence survivors.
40-Hour Training Course on Domestic Violence
Training is held approximately once per year. Our last training was completed in September 2009. Our next training will be announced. The 40-hour training is required of all Next Door staff and most volunteers, but is also open to community members interested in gaining a comprehensive understanding of domestic violence.
