KATHLEEN KRENEK, Executive Director
Kathleen Krenek assumed the position of executive director of Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence in July, 2001. She brought 31 years of non-profit leadership experience, including 16 years specifically in domestic violence prevention and intervention. After working at the local level, Kathleen became the public policy director for the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence, where she moved several pieces of significant legislation through the state House, including a bill that secured the largest funding increase for domestic violence services in Wisconsin history. From there she moved to the national level to work as director of the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence, where she led policy development, technical assistance to battered women’s programs across the country, and research into causation, intervention and strategies to eliminate domestic violence.
Kathleen has written numerous papers dealing with topics including poverty/welfare reform, incarcerated battered women, and battered women who kill, and wrote “The Transformation of the Battered Women’s Movement,” which was published in 2001.

VANESSA SHIEH, Director of Finance
Vanessa Shieh, Next Door’s Director of Finance, is responsible for all the finance and accounting activities for Next Door’s $2.5 million budget. She held the position of Director of Administration with Reading Partners and was formerly with Cultural Initiatives as the Operations Manager. Vanessa also consults with 1stAct Silicon Valley. She holds an MBA with a concentration in Accounting from Golden Gate University.

JEANNE HUBER, Director of Development and Marketing
Jeanne Huber, Next Door’s Director of Development and Marketing, has more than twenty years of nonprofit management experience. Jeanne has worked in human service, arts and animal welfare organizations throughout five states and has advanced degrees in management, professional certifications in marketing and fundraising, and has held leadership positions in several civic organizations. She helped form the Louisiana Composers Guild in New Orleans and has done professional consulting with nonprofit organizations for many years.
