KATHLEEN KRENEK, Executive Director
Kathleen Krenek assumed the position of Executive Director of Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence in July, 2001. She brought 31 years of non-profit leadership experience with her, including 16 years in domestic violence prevention and intervention. After working at the local level, Kathleen became the Public Policy Director for the Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence, where she moved several pieces of significant legislation through the state House of Representatives. Most significantly, a bill that secured the largest funding increase for domestic violence services in Wisconsin history. From there she moved to the national level to work as Director of the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence, where she led policy development and technical assistance to battered women’s programs across the country.
Kathleen has written numerous papers dealing with topics including poverty, welfare reform, incarcerated battered women, and battered women who kill. In 2001, she published “The Transformation of the Battered Women’s Movement”.
COLSARIA HENDERSON, Director of Programs
Colsaria has worked towards ending violence against women and girls for more than 15 years. She has been in a management position for the last 8 years at various Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault agencies in the Bay Area. She enjoys both direct service and macro level policy work. She is a graduate of the California Women’s Policy Institute sponsored by the Women’s Foundation of California and is currently a part of the Strong Field Domestic Violence Leadership Program. She began her service at Next Door Solutions in January, 2014.
DONNA KNOWLTON, Director of Development
Donna has worked in the non-profit sector since 2004. She worked for Future Families, was Program Director at Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative (BAWSI) then worked on the Development Team at Unity Care Group. Donna has been with Next Door Solutions since 2013.
SUSAN McINNIS, Director of Finance and Operations
Susan studied Business Administration at UC Berkeley, has more than 13 years experience in the non-profit field and previous experience in finance and software development. She has volunteered for several girl’s agencies, including Friends for Youth and Girls for a Change. She has served on several non-profit boards as well, including the Alliance for Girls and Girls Middle School. She also started the after school program called Up On Top. She has been with Next Door Solutions since 2013.
